Hypothesis-driven project management & business analysis

My approach combines established consulting methods with agile learning cycles and generative AI. Skills are practiced through case studies and your own work.

IT geTS interesting WHeN …

… the question changes along the way.

Hypothesis-driven work then needs short learning cycles and a project plan that responds to new evidence.

… AI delivers a plausible answer in seconds.

The crucial skill becomes testing that answer and sharpening our own judgment. That is what we practice.

… even the strongest analysis has not convinced anyone.

That is why scoping, stakeholder interests, and influence are built into my analytical approach.

What distinguishes my approach

A connected way of working

Problem definition, analysis, and project management connect to the final recommendation. Each method has a clear purpose in the overall process.

New evidence changes the plan

Hypotheses are provisional answers. We deliberately seek evidence that supports or challenges them and adjust our next steps accordingly.

Use AI with sound judgment

Generative AI can support ideation, research, and structuring. We practice questioning its outputs, checking sources, and taking responsibility for our conclusions.

Connect analysis and collaboration

For project scoping and stakeholder conversations, I draw on selected, practice-tested methods, including Gerald Hüsch’s LEAD21 system, Deborah Rowland’s change management philosophy, and Chris Voss’s FBI influence techniques.

Diagram sketch · An example

Why is profit declining?
Lower revenue?
Price?
Volume?
Higher costs?
Fixed costs?
Variable costs?
One hypothesis

Existing customers are buying less.

The next useful step

Examine sales volume by customer group.

Break down a big question. Test what actually matters.
See the six steps together

One shared working view. At every step.

A central working view connects all six steps: What have we learned? What do we believe now? What might change our minds? It guides which question, analysis, or conversation should come next.

  1. Understand the context

Who needs to make which decision?

↔ In the compass: context and open assumptions.

  2. Define the problem

What exactly do we need to answer?

↔ In the compass: the question we are working toward together.

  3. Structure the question

    Which subquestions matter?

↔ In the compass: the gaps in our understanding that matter.

  4. Form hypotheses

What do we believe, and why?

↔ In the compass: our provisional answer and what could disprove it.

  5. Test and learn

    What might change our minds?

↔ In the compass: new evidence and an updated judgment.

  6. Conclude and communicate

What do we recommend on this basis?

↔ In the compass: the recommendation, its rationale, and remaining uncertainty.

Laptop: We learned… Now we believe… What might change our mind is…
The project compass is updated continuously, from the initial brief to the recommendation.

New insights may take us back to earlier steps.

How trust develops and responsibility can grow

“Just TRUst your tEAm.” IT is RARely that siMpLE.

Telling a manager not to micromanage leaves the crucial question unanswered: what should their trust rest on? Trust needs time to develop. It grows through experience, clear expectations, and conversations about what is not working yet.

It gets interesting when we neither assume trust nor postpone it until everything is perfect: how much autonomy makes sense today, and what would make more possible tomorrow?

01 / “Not yet” opens up development

“You cannot do this” becomes “You cannot do this yet.” Drawing on Manfred Prior’s MiniMax interventions, we ask what is still missing and what next step is achievable, while keeping high standards.

02 / Safety makes learning possible

People need to be able to raise uncertainty, mistakes, and disagreement for a team to learn. Google’s Project Aristotle highlights psychological safety as an important factor in effective teams. Reliability and clear expectations also matter in my approach.

03 / The systemic influence of hierarchy

Hierarchy creates different responsibilities: leaders need a broader view and cannot go as deeply into every detail. Those contributing to their decisions cover a narrower area and are expected to examine more deeply. At the same time, each person has their own compass for how much depth a decision requires and how much uncertainty is acceptable. Reflecting on this tension helps us to build trust in both roles: as a leader and as a contributing team member.

We practice with real delegation and feedback situations. The goal is a high-performing team culture in which responsibility, willingness to learn, and trust grow together.

Your BeST iDEA Deserves a COmpeLLing delivery.

A well-structured argument is a strong starting point. It gets interesting when a story carries it, the language lands, and the speaker connects with the audience. Heino and I teach precisely this combination together.

Dr. Artus Ph. Rosenbusch

Artus · The structure of the argument

Consulting methods and the Pyramid Principle: find the core message and support it so the audience can follow the argument.

Heino Trusheim

Heino · The impact in the room

Heino Trusheim brings his experience as a stand-up comedian and public-speaking coach: storytelling, presence, and a feel for what connects with an audience.

The focus is on bringing it together: a clear message, a story that supports it, and a delivery that makes people listen. For presentations and pitches where the stakes are real.

Full quote

I have known Artus for almost a decade through his consulting work. He is one of the smartest people I have met – with exceptionally high professional and ethical standards.

He knows how to make complexity accessible so that solutions emerge that few would previously have thought possible. His particular strength: you can send him from the boardroom into the organization, and he is at home at every level. He meets people as equals, speaks their language, and understands their perspective.

At the same time, he has a clear sense of what needs to change and what should be preserved. This combination of intellectual clarity, integrity, and human understanding makes him an exceptional consultant in my eyes.

Gerald HüschLeadership – Founder of LEAD21 OS for Human Coordination at Scale

I’m ARTUS.

Artus Rosenbusch explaining with open hands and a smile.

Dr. Artus Ph. Rosenbusch

Frankfurt is home. Outside work, family, music, and dancing are part of my life.

I am a mathematician with a PhD in cooperative game theory. A management consultant with experience from booz&co and RWE/innogy Consulting, where I led the MENA consulting business, headed the LRN LAB, and served as sponsor of marketing.

Since 2021, my focus has been on training and coaching. I teach what has proved useful in demanding projects and develop it further for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Practical knowledge taught—on campus, too. I have been teaching at several leading German universities. And even when topics are incredibly abstract - maybe especially then - I always show the bridge for practical application.

From top strategist to people development: why the change?

I discovered the joy of sharing knowledge as a university tutor; later, it became an increasingly important part of my work as a project leader and manager. Losing my sister in 2020 and the birth of my son in 2021 prompted reflection and a new direction. I love growth—in myself and around me. Growth and vitality are what make the impermanence of life bearable for me and let the sun rise anew each day. Seeing people grow—my clients and my own child... Training and coaching give me room for both.

An important presentation, a difficult conversation, a new responsibility. We work on your next step.

Discuss your challenge
A proven topic — or a tailored program?

Sometimes the need is clear: pyramidal storytelling, HDA, or negotiation. That is where we start. If the challenge is less clear, two questions can help:

Which strength moves us forward?

Championship skills: capabilities your success already rests on — with potential for even greater impact.

What is still holding us back?

Bottleneck skills: a specific limitation that keeps your strengths from translating into results.

Not every weakness needs training. What matters is what makes a difference to your goals.
